Description

This course is based on chapters 24 & 25 from Orthopaedic Physical Therapy by Robert A. Donatelli and Michael J. Wooden (4th Edition). The course is appropriate for any therapist wishing to improve knowledge of foot orthotic principles and prescription, as well as surgical intervention and post-surgical rehabilitation of the foot and ankle. The first chapter, Overview of Foot Orthotics and Prescription, presents updated concepts on the use of foot orthotics for treating injuries and pathologies and includes information on prefabricated, therapist-formed, and custom-prescribed orthotics. The second chapter, New Advances in Foot and Ankle Surgery and Rehabilitation, describes some common surgical procedures of the foot and ankle and discusses appropriate rehab strategies for each.
