This course provides the rehab therapist with information on the properties of water, the bodily effects of water submersion, the benefits of therapy in the aquatic environment, the appropriateness of utilizing the aquatic environment, aquatic treatment progressions, use of aquatic equipment, aquatic documentation, precautions and contraindications, and special population considerations. This course introduces the therapist to specialized aquatic techniques including BackHab, Ai Chi, the Bad Ragaz Ring Method and more. Using the latest research available, this course is a valuable resource for any PT, OT, or therapist assistant. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------***COURSE OBJECTIVES*** At the completion of this course, the rehab clinician should be able to: 1.Recall the physical properties of water and the bodily effects of submersion in water. 2.Explain the benefits of treating clients in an aquatic setting and how the physical properties of water can enhance therapeutic techniques. 3.Determine the appropriateness of an aquatic environment for patients and identify contraindications and precautions for aquatic therapy. 4.Document the need for aquatic therapy. 5.Identify a variety of ways to progress patient treatment programs in the aquatic setting. 6.Identify current research in aquatic therapy. 7. Compare and contrast three aquatic treatment techniques (BackHab, Ai Chi, and Bad Ragaz) and identify additional aquatic techniques. 8.Examine and explain core stability and strengthening in the aquatic setting. 9.Create an aquatic treatment plan for a variety of patient populations. 10. Identify categories and justify the use of basic aquatic equipment. 11. Identify safety concerns in the aquatic environment.
